Join us This Black History Month as we teach History through intentions.

Perhaps you’ve recently wondered why Black History Month is worthy of your celebration and attention. You wonder: What is the purpose of spending an entire month focusing on the achievements of Black people in history? If you are living an actively antiracist life, you may wonder: How can Black History Month support my ongoing learning about systemic racism, and what meaningful action can I take to celebrate this month?

In fact, we polled a selection of our community of interpersonal activists, asking them what they would like to learn this month. Here’s what they hope for:

1. You hope to gain a deep understanding of why Black History Month is protected, celebrated, and cherished both locally and internationally. 

2. You hope to continue your ongoing commitment to active antiracism by finding thoughtful ways to take action this Black History Month. 

We are so excited to share this ancilla, a guide through Black History Month that we’ve been developing for a handful of years. Back in 2019, our founders wanted to provide a meaningful way to lead their friends through the celebratory Month. But, they hoped to take their community deeper than memorizing the greatest hits of Black figures—their experiences and innovations in the United States. Instead, our founders wanted their friends to feel inspired, understand how Black History is a shared history, and most importantly, develop another layer of historical knowledge that aids their antiracism.
